Short answer:- Grains are the dry fruits of grasses, seeds are typically the inner part of an edible fruits of a plant.
- Grains has an extra layer of bran (equivalent to the pericarp / flesh of a fruit we eat) compared to seeds.
- Grain is the product of the fusion of seed coat and the fruit while seed is an ovule which contains embryo, without the fruit part.
