List of edible nuts

The nuts we eat are actually the seeds of a fruit, the fruit can be a fleshy fruit or a hard shell fruit. There are many different types of edible nuts available, and lots of them are not actually true real nuts.

Nuts which are actually drupe seed

These are not true nuts, but the seeds of drupes, with fleshy fruit surrounding a seed (usually a single seed), which the seed is the edible nut we eat, and the flesh is the juicy fruit we eat. These nuts are also known as tree nuts.
