List of rice substitutes for keto diet

There are many food which resemble rice texture and can be used to replace rice. The list is mainly for ketogenic diet, but food which resembles rice will be included as well.

Rice varieties

  • White rice
  • Brown rice

Vegetables

  • Cauliflower
    • Chopped into riced form
    • Usually the head of the plant is eaten
  • Broccoli
    • Chopped into riced form
    • Typically the big flowering head is eaten, followed by stalk and sometimes leaves

Seeds

  • Quinoa
    • One of the main rice substitution
    • Better than white rice, but still high in carbs and not considered a low-carb diet
  • Amaranth
  • Hemp seeds
    • Or Flex seeds (but Hemp seeds are much better)

Nuts

  • Almonds
    • Chopped into diced / riced form
    • Almond is the more common diced compared to other nuts, which can be used to replace almonds as well when riced nicely
  • Cashews
  • Walnuts
  • Pecans
  • Hazelnuts

Carnivore diet / meats

  • Minced meat
    • Minced pork, minced beef, minced chicken, etc.
  • Small shrimps
    • Dried is preferred as the texture can get crispy more easily when cooking and resemble rice
  • Small anchovies
    • Dried is preferred as the texture can get crispy more easily when cooking and resemble rice
    • Can be blended a bit to have a smaller pieces if the anchovies provided are a little bit big in size
